The biggest Halloween celebration for families in Central Massachusetts!

October 12-14, 19-21, and 26-28, 2018 from 6 to 9 p.m.

Celebrate Halloween at the EcoTarium’s annual family-friendly Great Pumpkin Festival! Wander the EcoTarium grounds to see striking funkin displays of dinosaurs, safari animals and more. Inside, enjoy the museum’s fascinating exhibits while also getting to trick-or-treat. Don’t forget your costume!

Friendly Halloween costumes are encouraged! Bring a flashlight to light your way at night and be sure to dress for the weather. This event takes place rain or shine. 

Proceeds benefit EcoTarium. No passes, coupons, or discounts, including the EBT program, apply. Great Pumpkin Festival is a special event to support the museum.

Educational Programs

6:30 and 8:15 p.m. Spooktacular Science: Way to Glow
Alden Digital Planetarium
Join us for radiant science demonstrations and learn the essence of luminescence, and why some surprising things glow in the dark. 

7:30 p.m. Creature Feature: Flight or Fight
Alden Digital Planetarium
Do big fangs send chills down your spine? We'll meet a live animal and find out which adaptations help them stay safe when confronted by predators.

Food, Entertainment, and Activities 

6:45 p.m. Costume Parade
Show off your costumer and receive a raffle ticket at the end of the route for a chance to win a fabulous prize!

7:00, 7:45, & 8:30 p.m. Fire Show from the Firefly Caravan
Lower Parking Lot
Join us for a mesmerizing spectacle full of imagination! Using a wide variety of fire props-and with talents ranging from fire eating to fire magic-these show-stopping fire dancers and stunt performers will light up your evening! 
In the case of bad weather this show will be moved indoors and the Firefly Caravan will instead perform their LED show

Bust a move to fun and scary Halloween hits from iHeartRadio! On Fridays and Saturdays, the WSRS Street Team will join us from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and mix it up with even more fun!

Explorer Express Train Rides

Shine and Glow on the Go
Train Station
Timed tickets available at the front desk and the train station. Train rides start at 6:15 p.m. and leave every 15 minutes until 8:45 p.m. Please make sure to sure to arrive at least five minutes before your scheduled departure time. 
$3/$2 for EcoTarium members. Train is weather dependent.

All aboard! Search for glowing eyes, gaze at light and glow zones, and wave to friendly spiders and skeletons along the way.
