Volunteer Program
We simply could not offer the programs and special events that make the EcoTarium a unique resource to our community without our diverse and wonderfully dedicated corps of volunteers. As a volunteer, you will assist the EcoTarium in carrying out its mission while helping to make our visitors' experiences both fun and educational. Working along side our professional staff, you will acquire new skills and enhance your knowledge. Volunteers can be found in every department of the museum.
Volunteer opportunities
- At the Information Desk, greeting museum visitors and informing them of programs and activities
- On the museum floor, interpreting exhibits and offering programming, or assisting in the Preschool Discovery Area
- In the classrooms, assisting our educators in presenting science programs to school groups
- In the planetarium, assisting our educators in presenting public programs
- Assisting staff in the care and feeding of our resident animals
- Behind the scenes, assisting with exhibit development, clerical tasks, marketing and outreach efforts, groundskeeping and much more
- Helping to present special events, such as Jazz at Sunset, Great Pumpkin Fest, and A Christmas Journey
Our volunteers come from diverse backgrounds, and each brings a unique perspective and experience. We offer all volunteers a general orientation. Additional training is provided for some volunteer roles.
