Capital Campaign: Third Century Plan

Phase Two of our Capital Campaign

The EcoTarium is pleased to announce the launch of the second phase of our Third Century Plan to further enhance our visitor learning experience and truly inspire a passion for science and nature at a community and national level.

We invite you to join us in support of our Third Century Plan Campaign. With your help, we move closer to our vision of becoming a national leader in engaging communities with science and nature, and creating experiences that will last for generations. This transformative campaign expands the EcoTarium’s delivery of fun and imaginative learning experiences for all ages.

Phase Two Components

  • Wild Cat Station brings mountain lions and other native New England species to the EcoTarium in a spectacular outdoor exhibit. Designed to be an intimate and memorable experience, Wild Cat Station provides a new flow to the campus, offers greater opportunity for educational programming, enhances our capacity to deliver excellent care for our wildlife, improves accessibility for those with mobility challenges, and supplies much needed visitor amenities.
  • City Science is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and immerses visitors in the exploration of the modern city, allowing them to investigate the science they encounter every day but rarely stop to consider. This dramatic 2,500 square foot exhibit will be located on the middle level of the museum and will incorporate live animals, interactive exhibits, and natural history specimens. Visitors will experiment, engineer, and explore seven interrelated urban science themes rarely displayed together in science or natural history museums.
  • Explorer Express Train has delighted children and parents for 40 years on a 12-minute train ride throughout our beautiful grounds. We recently installed new rails over this ride’s 1-1/2 mile course.
  • Powering the Future allows us to decommission our aged power plant and build an energy-efficient mechanical plant connected to the grid with the ability to support current and future museum expansions.

To date we’ve raised $7.9 million!
