What's summer camp like?

The EcoTarium's Summer Discovery Camp is a unique balance of age-appropriate science content, day camp fun and time to explore individual interests. Our counselors start the day by engaging kids in fun, thematic science activities, working by age group. After lunch, kids can create their own camp experience by choosing from a menu of activities, from outdoor games to catching a planetarium show.

Camp Staff

EcoTarium's camp is run by experienced museum educators who are assisted by college-age counselors and teen Junior Counselors. All camp sessions are limited to 10 Tadpoles (ages 5-6), 60 campers (ages 7-12) and 10 Counselors-in-Training (ages 13-14). The ratio of counselors to campers is 1:10 for regular campers and CITs and 1:5 for Tadpoles. CPR training, First Aid certification and background screening are required for all camp staff.

A Typical Day at EcoTarium Camp

12:30 – 1:25 Sport/craft/sign-up activity period
1:25-1:55

Cool down activitiy

  • Director-led, whole camp activity
2:00-3:50
