Get ready to experience Science + You, a ground-breaking exhibit where children become scientists for the day!

Designed as a real-life -- but child-sized -- laboratory, Science + You allows children to explore how scientists impact health and wellness. Through interactive machinery, processes and technology, Science + You opens a window into the world of the research scientist and, through fun activities, shows how science keeps our bodies healthy.

So, put on your lab coat and join us for a fascinating, hands-on journey through the laboratory!

Preschool & Toddler Wednesdays

Join us every week for our special preschool and toddler program. Enjoy a story, meet a live animal, and get creative with a supervised craft activity -- all geared especially for little ones aged 3 and under. These preschool and toddler programs are very popular and space is limited. So, while they are free with admission, tickets are issued at the Ticket & Information Desk on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that these programs are designed for families.

Animals Without Passports

Visit the EcoTarium's Lower Level to discover a new exhibit!

Animals Without Passports follows the humpback whale's migration between North Atlantic feeding grounds in NOAA's Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary (SBNMS) off Massachusetts and the Caribbean breeding grounds.

This exhibit showcases SBNMS' sister sanctuaries program and describes the various hazards humpbacks face as they journey across ocean borders. Guests are offered a unique look into the issues impacting marine ecosystems and are encouraged to examine the personal role they have in the protection of one of our nations underwater treasures.

This traveling exhibit will be featured at the EcoTarium through early May.

April School Vacation: Close Encounters of the Wild Kind!

Stalk! Track! Catch!

This Earth Week get up close to nature with hands-on activities designed to get kids outdoors and exploring the EcoTarium's ponds, meadows, and woods. Learn about vernal pools and discover who lives in them, collect samples of cool pond and insect life, explore the secret lives of wildlife through camera traps and tracking, and see what tools you'll need to become a naturalist on your own. A variety of indoor and outdoor activities are included in our Earth Week program.

Earth Day Celebration

- Earth Day Admission: $7 adults, $4 children 2-18, $5 seniors and students with ID; free for EcoTarium members. (Since admission is half price, coupons and discounts do not apply on Earth Day.)
Nature is blossoming, and spring time is here! Rain or shine, enjoy indoor and outdoor family-friendly activities, and half-priced admission to celebrate Earth Day.

See which local friends drop in for surprise visits, take part in some community art, and enjoy live music by Earth Day favorites, Chuck & Mud. Check out our event tent for face-painting and Earth Day tattoos, and to chat with local green organizations. Plus, pick up fresh veggies from the REC’s Mobile Farmers Market!

Budding Scientists - Our Senses: Hearing

Curious little explorers conduct simple, safe, science and nature experiments in the EcoTarium's Budding Scientists program. Held on the first Thursday of every month, you and your child will learn basic scientific principles while having fun with hands-on activities. There are two identical sessions each month. Please pick up a ticket for your session at the Information Desk when you arrive at the museum. Limited to first 10 adult-child pairs per session.

Budding Scientists is designed for families and their children aged 4-6. You bring the curiosity, we'll provide the smocks: This is active and interactive science, so children may get messy.

Saturday Nature Play: Natural Prints and Patterns

Join us on the first Saturday of every month for "Saturday Nature Play with the Worcester Children's Museum." In May, use simple printmaking techniques to discover amazing designs in the natural world after looking closely at objects from the EcoTarium's collection.

A Night at the Museum

The EcoTarium and its exhibits will come to life - at night- with a S.T.E.A.M. punk flare. Act like a kid again and enjoy this adult evening which will feature cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, dinner, a Silent and Live Auction, historical figures, train rides and music by the Dale LePage Trio. Cocktail attire. Proceeds will benefit the EcoTarium’s mission to inspire a passion for science and nature.

Tree Canopy Walkway
Sundays, Saturdays, 5/24/2014 - 6/22/2014

Imagine being 40 feet high in the trees, harnessed and clipped to a series of swinging bridges spanning 150 feet. What could you see and hear? How would it feel to be walking through the trees or speeding toward the forest floor?

Want to find out? Take the family on a sky-high adventure. The Tree Canopy Walkway at the EcoTarium is the only place in New England where kids and adults can experience what it's like to walk at the tops of the trees-- or be a treetop scientist! Explore firsthand what's living up there and investigate the different kinds of trees that make up EcoTarium's forest. End your adventure by zipping down to the forest floor in our comfy (and secure) chair harness. All children must be 5 or older and accompanied by an adult. Ages 12 and older can participate without a chaperone.

Bubbles!

Everyone loves bubbles, and our seasonal outdoor exhibit gives kids (and grownups) of all ages a chance to make loads and loads of sudsy bubbles in all shapes and sizes. Experiment with how they are formed, the colors they produce, and their amazing properties. And while you're having fun making all those bubbles, you'll learn about such things as surface tension, evaporation and light reflection.

Bubbles! is located on the Sundial Plaza and will be open daily through the summer.

Flight of the Imagination

Do you dream of adventures in the sky? The EcoTarium and the AeroVenture Institute have partnered to offer "Flight of the Imagination." This unique program is a scientific journey of the human discovery of flight and consists of four interactive Flight Briefings, culminating with a one-on-one experience of actual flight time in an airplane! The first three briefings will be held at the EcoTarium and the final briefing will take place at the Worcester Regional Flight Academy.

This program is recommended for students 12-17 years of age.

Saturday Nature Play: Flower Power

Run! Jump! Fly! Adventures in Action

Move like an action star in a variety of imaginative adventure surroundings in Run! Jump! Fly! Adventures in Action, an exciting exhibit created by the Minnesota Children's Museum.

This exhibit encourages families to try out activities they may have never before encountered and also revisit familiar activities in new ways. Surf the big waves, snowboard down mountain slopes, practice kung fu like a master, scramble out of a climbing canyon, and more!
