ECOTARIUM TO TAKE PART IN NATIONAL OBSERVANCE OF SEPTEMBER 11 TERRORIST ATTACKS
Museum will hold memorial tree planting with Worcester's North High School, Worcester Mayor Timothy Murray

 

WHAT: EcoTarium will offer free admission all day, and will hold a community tree planting at 10:30 a.m.

DESCRIPTION:
As part of Celebrate America's Freedoms: A Day of Remembrance, a national observance organized by the American Association of Museums and the Institute of Museum and Library Services, the EcoTarium will offer free admission from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, September 11, 2002.

On that morning, Worcester Mayor Timothy P. Murray will join EcoTarium staff and students from neighboring North High School in planting a tree on the EcoTarium's North Courtyard at 10:30 a.m. The tree is a symbolic gesture of hope and a living memorial to honor the victims of last September's terrorist attacks. Musical selections will be provided by the North High School chorus. Short remarks will also be offered by Murray, EcoTarium Executive Director Laura Myers, and North High Principal Elizabeth Drake.

The public is invited to attend the tree planting ceremony.
