(WORCESTER, Mass.) – Join the EcoTarium this holiday season for A Polar Bear's Journey and get your entire family in the holiday spirit. Chris Van Allsburg's classic winter tale The Polar Express will come alive as your children board the Explorer Express Train and are sent on a magical journey to the EcoTarium's North Pole by Santa himself.
Each child will receive a bell to fill the afternoon air with the joyful sounds of the holiday season. The train will stop and visit with our beloved polar bear, Kenda, so that families can learn all about these beautiful, majestic creatures. This unforgettable event for preschool-age children is brought to a close with a return trip to the museum where you and your family can warm up with hot cocoa and cookies.
This is a very special time of the year for Kenda – her birthday! Come celebrate with her on December 8 at 12:30 p.m. Children attending A Polar Bear's Journey at this time will receive free ice cream cups.
A Polar Bear's Journey will run for only two weekends – Saturday, December 8 & 15 and Sunday, December 9 & 16 (12:30, 1:30 and 2:30 p.m.). There will be three programs each day lasting 60 minutes each. Tickets for this special holiday event are limited and are on sale for $6, EcoTarium members $5, plus museum admission. They will be available for purchase at www.ecotarium.org and also via phone at (508) 929-2703. This is one of the EcoTarium's most popular events, so early reservations are encouraged; the programs fill up quickly.
EcoTarium, A Museum of Science & Nature, offers three floors of interactive exhibits, wildlife habitats, interpretive nature trails, a digital planetarium, and a narrow-gauge railroad. The museum, located at 222 Harrington Way in Worcester, Mass., is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sundays 12 to 5 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults and $8 for seniors, college students and children ages 3-18.
