(WORCESTER, MA) – Join the EcoTarium on Saturday, March 31 from 6 to 9 p.m. for a far-out party to celebrate the arrival of Massachusetts’ only fully digital public planetarium – the Alden Digital Planetarium! The planetarium, which features an immersive multimedia environment for live astronomy shows and specially formatted feature science presentations, recently opened to rave reviews.

On this special evening, the museum will be celebrating the successful launch and acknowledging those who made the conversion to digital technology possible, helping the museum to continue Worcester’s legacy of interest and involvement in space exploration and education. Attendees will have the opportunity to travel through the far reaches of the universe through showings of the feature presentation Passport to the Universe, while sipping on cosmic cocktails, indulging in galactic hors d'ouevres by Struck Catering, and doing a little space-age socializing.

Once back on Earth, guests can join the Aldrich Astronomical Society for telescope viewing of the planets on the Sundial Plaza (weather-permitting) and check out a NASA flight suit made by Worcester’s David Clark Company— and, of course, take home a sample of freeze-dried astronaut ice cream as a fun reminder of their trip through outer space. Acknowledgments and a celebratory toast will begin at 6:15 p.m.

Guests are welcome to arrive in their preference of cocktail or space-age attire. Tickets are $35 per person; $25 for EcoTarium members and Aldrich Astrological Society members. Cash bar. A $150 contribution includes two party invites and inclusion in the display of the party’s Shooting Stars. All proceeds benefit the Alden Digital Planetarium. Reservations can be made online at www.ecotarium.org or by calling (508) 929-2703.
